Ifaty is certainly the most magnificent seaside destination in the south of Madagascar after Anaka.. Ifaty is a resort located 25 kilometers from the city of Tulear. It is a village which has good diving clubs and with really charming small hotels you can gov on snorkeling and whale watching in season! Since the construction of the RN9 finished most of this beautiful village has became a destination to finish the descent of the RN7 with a few well-deserved rest days to relax.
What makes this village quite famous area is largely due to its location close to Toliara and which is its province and the excellent paved road that connects them. The beaches are really quite poor relative to other options rocky at times, very shallow for much of the day and with seagrass beds rather than sandy bottoms. The unkempt villages, saturated by tourism, are not very attractive, either. Nevertheless, the snorkeing is good, the whales come past here and there are a lot of resorts to choose from, including some really good ones.
